Chocoholic Cream Pie

My little one doesn’t care much for fruit pies. Apparently that particular gene didn’t make it into her DNA.

This chocoholic child, who’s been choosing 72% cacao over 35% since age 2 (don’t judge me for feeding chocolate to a toddler – for our family, chocolate is a bona fide food group), has been begging me to make a chocolate pie for weeks.

I deferred her pleas as long as seemed humane, and she seemed as excited about me finally fulfilling her request, as she was to eat its fruits (pun!) later.

This chocolate cream is basically 1 part chocolate, 1 part cream. That’s it. It all gets melted together over low heat, cooled, and then whipped into intensely chocolate fluff.

Then, while the cream was setting in the fridge, my sweet chocoholic helped me tidy up by licking the beaters clean. Her chocolate-covered smile was pure joy, for both of us, I think.
