Caramel Apple Pie
Browsing for pie-spiration, I came across a Caramel Apple Pie recipe. Hey, I’d never tried caramel in my pie. Apple + caramel = tasty! I decided to give it a go.
I fiddled with a jar of caramel from the supermarket shelf, then opted for being adventurous and doing it the all-in way. About 12 times in the process I considered giving up. Something wasn’t looking right…
First, the sugar got all clumpy – don’t burn the sugar, the recipe says! Then, the butter got all fizzy – definitely don’t burn the butter!! And finally, the cream got all bubbly and broke up the rest of the mixure. I kept stirring, hoping for redemption. And redemption I got, when finally it all came together into a silky ribbon, like a dream.
The pie turned out very caramely indeed. I think this recipe is a keeper.
